The location of Biesheim

Biesheim is located next to the Rhine half way between Colmar (France) and Freiburg (Germany), and only 5 kilometers away from the French/German border. You will easily be able to access the Rhine by bike and make the most of a number of cycle tracks. The village of Biesheim is known for the discovery of a former Gallo-Roman village there.
The village :
Biesheim has a population of approx 2200 inhabitants and offers a small supermarket, a tobacco shop, a bakery, a pharmacy, two GPs, two dentists, one pizzeria, a Vietnamese restaurant, a traditional restaurant, a tennis court, several football fields, and a multimedia library.
For those interested in history, you will have the possibility to visit two museums :
the Gallo-Roman Museum
the optical Museum
Biesheim is located on the Giessen (small river) and comprises a forest where you will be able to walk or ride in a lovely atmosphere. Children can play in the village’s playgrounds.

The city of Neuf-Brisach is ranked in the UNESCO heritage since 2008. Vauban has created his masterpiece by building Neuf-Brisach, which is his best defence construction and allowed the city to avoid being captured until 1814.
